GENERAL INFORMATION – FUNCTIONAL PRINCIPLE

The operation of immersed electrode humidifiers is based on a very simple physical principle. As common drinking water contains a certain quantity of dissolved mineral salts, and is consequently slightly conductive, applying a voltage to metal electrodes immersed in the water creates an electric current that heats the water (Joule effect) until boiling, thus producing steam.
The quantity of steam produced is proportional to the electric current, which is in turn proportional to the water level.
This electric current is measured by a current transformer: by varying the level of water using a fill solenoid valve and due to the evaporation process, the current, and consequently steam production, can be modulated. Due to evaporation, the level of water decreases and must therefore be topped up. As the steam produced does not carry mineral salts, the salt concentration in the water and therefore the conductivity increases, and has to be periodically diluted by draining part of it using the drain pump and replacing it with new water.
In addition, scale forms over time and covers part of the cylinder, which must be replaced or cleaned. The principle is simple, however the development of an immersed electrode humidifier that ensures safe operation and reliability over time requires careful analysis and extended testing.
Compared to electric heater or gas-fired humidifiers, immersed electrode humidifiers:
• are less expensive to purchase;
• operate with drinking water (not completely demineralised or softened);
• require periodical replacement (or cleaning) of the cylinder;
• feature modulation suitable for comfort or industrial applications, without extreme requirements.

SOL-STEAM GENERATOR ``BASIC``

SOLSteam basic (Y) is suitable for installation in civil environments, offices, hospitals and industrial facilities, and is designed for installation both in rooms, using the steam blower, and air ducts, using the linear steam distributors.
humiSteam basic is ideal for applications where steam production is controlled by an external signal, i.e. BMS or humidistat, and comes in a range from 1.5 to 65 kg/h.
Steam production is controlled by an external signal:
• ON/OFF mode: a simple contact (for example, a humidistat) starts/stops steam production.
• proportional mode: the humidifier produces a quantity of steam that is directly proportional to the signal (0-10 V, 2-10 V, 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA) generated by the external controller, always between 20% and 100% of maximum capacity.
Type “Y” humidifiers have a display with numbers and icons that shows the operating conditions and any diagnostic information extremely clearly and intuitively.
In addition, they come with RS485 interface with Modbus protocol for remote configuration and control via BMS.

SOL-STEAM GENERATOR ``PLUS (X)``

Type “X” humiSteam humidifiers represent our ‘s high-end solution in immersed electrode humidifiers. They have a built-in controller with graphic display and keypad for programming and controlling operation.
The following modes can be selected at any time:
• ON/OFF by external humidistat;
• proportional to external signal;
• proportional to external signal plus a maximum humidity limit probe in the duct;
• modulating based on set point and humidity probe reading ;
• modulating based on set point and humidity probe reading and limit probe in the duct.
Steam flow-rate is modulated continuously from 20 to 100% of maximum capacity (10 to 100% in the 90 and 130 kg/h models), except for in ON/OFF mode, where production is all or nothing.
Type “X” humiSteam humidifiers can accept the following external signals, selected on the keypad: voltage-free contact from humidistat, 0-1 V, 0-10 V, 2-10 V, 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA.
Type “X” controllers exploit all the advantages of pCO technology, the family of CAREL programmable controllers:
• easy to use, graphic display with clear messages in different languages;
• operation based on daily and weekly time bands with variable set points;
• BMS connectivity via various types of LAN (e.g.: Modbus® (standard), BACnet™, LON®);
• complete diagnostics with text messages, alarm log with time stamping;
• remote diagnostics via GSM (optional);
• automatic drain due to inactivity.

The SOLSteam Wellness model has been especially made to meet the typical demands of steam bath applications, with the software thus able to manage:
• daily and weekly time bands;
• different temperature set points for the time bands;
• up to 3 actuators for the distribution of essences, and 1 for the disinfection cycle;
• up to 2 fans (cabin and exhaust) and cabin light;
• easy to use, graphic display with icons and messages in different languages;
• connectivity via various types of LAN (Modbus®, BACnet™, LON);
• operating hour counter and alarm log with time stamping;
In addition, the display-keypad can be detached from the humidifier and connected in a remote position, to simplify integration into OEM products.
